Pitch for Ideas
Our film opening is about a girl called Emily Stone and she got involved with gambling and it became an addiction and she lost a lot of money and couln't pay it back so her family were taken from her and she is determind to find out where her family are and what happend to them. She also wants to get revenge on the people that hurt her family.
Alterations made along the way- Script, Costume and Structure of Narrative
We have decided to change the storyline so that it is more like an opening than a trailer because too much action was happening. We also decided that we would use a main female character and two other characters in the opening.
New Script-
My name is Emily Stone, I'm not your typical gangster. When I was younger the people I loved were taken from me. I don't know where they went or who took them, all I know was that it was my fault. It was just a bit of fun. I didn't mean to hurt anyone, especially not my family. But like any addiction it took over my life and it still has a hold on me. But that is all about to change, tonight.
New Structure of narrative-
1. Dialogue starts and female character looks up at camera and smiles.
2. Shot of her mum.
3. Shot of her dad.
4. Casino scene, dice rolls on screen.
New costume:

Planning of music-soundtrack
We will use this soundtrack for our opening scene. We will have to cut and reuse parts of the soundtrack to make sure it goes along with the storyline.
Structure of narrative

2. On the street outside of her house, paranoid of what is around her.
3. Starts running to meet male character because she is late.
4. Flash backs of her past (when her mum was taken)
5. Male character leaning against a wall waiting for female character.
6. Flash backs of his past (when his uncle was shot)
7. Female character walks into shot.
8. Exchange of dialogue between the characters

Target Audience- Research

How and why are films classified?
The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) examines and age rates films and videos before they are released so they can protect children from unsuitable and even harmful content in films and videos and to give people information they might need about a particular film or video before deciding whether or not to watch it. They look at things like discrimination, drugs, horror, dangerous and easily imitable behaviour, language, nudity, sex, and violence when they decide what to classify it. The theme is also an important consideration. They also look at context, the tone and likely impact of a work on the audience.
The target audience for my genre are males and females 18 and over. I know this because most British gangster films are certificate 18 however there are some that are certificate 15 like 'RocknRolla'. They probably have high certificates because they contain violence and strong language. Also through my research I have found that British gangster films are watched more by males than females.
Certificated 15 film usually contain:

The analysis of these openings will help me plan my opening because I can see what I need to include, like a range of shot types, lighting, costume and credits. Also I can see how to make it better because I will make sure that I have included the EBIs of what I suggested for the other openings.
